Biography
I started showing Irish Setters in the UK back in 1968. In 1970 I registered my kennel name of Lapsewood in the UK and bred some top winning Irish Setters under that prefix. My first Open Show judging appointment was in 1976 where I had an entry of 101 Irish Setters, something not unheard of back in those days. My move to New Zealand in 1989 allowed me to concentrate on the breed I had always loved, the Great Dane. I registered my kennel name here in New Zealand and have both bred and owned Best In Show and Best In Specialty Show winning Great Danes and have made up Champions in Black, Fawn and Brindle. Lapsewood Great Danes have produced Champions and pointed dogs in the USA, UK, Australia, Japan and of course NZ including CRUFTS BOB winner in 2017. I am qualified to judge groups 7 and 3 at Championship Show level. I have judged on both islands of New Zealand and Australia. I have judged Great Dane specialty shows in the UK, USA, Australia and Denmark.
