Thank you to everyone who took time out of their holiday weekend to attend to the AGM in Auckland. We are pleased to be able to finally hold this after a couple of false starts! The Constitution changes as circulated were all approved with one small amendment. A copy of the updated Constitution is now on the website. The most significant of the adopted changes means that next year our members will no longer be voting for Regional Chairs but for 5 Board members, 2 from the South Island and 3 from the North Island. It also allows for staggered terms on the board, similar to Dogs NZ Executive Council.
Nelson Branch withdrew its remit as this has been superseded by the changes made recently to the Judges Regulations.
A discussion paper was presented by Karen McIntyre on behalf of Amanda Calman regarding Online Training and after the discussion that followed the Board agreed to form a subcommittee to further progress this and will be calling for interested parties to be part of that committee.
Unfortunately Bronwyn Murdoch was unable to attend to present her paper as originally requested and also our sponsors, Purina Proplan, also gave their apologies.
Karen McIntyre presented to the meeting an update on the JBG scheme. The meeting expressed support although it was identified that there is still a way to go with finetuning the practical application of the processes.
The new judges promotion regulations received quite a bit of air time in general business and this was an opportunity for the Board to elaborate on the background to some of the decisions and the ultimate goal we are focusing on which is to help ease the shortage of judges without compromising the quality.
